After St. Monica completed two years of RENEW in late 2004, the RENEW faith-sharing groups developed into small Christian communities (SCCs).
SCCs are groups of about 8 to 12 people who meet in someone’s home weekly to biweekly to share their faith. In doing so, they deepen their faith and develop stronger personal and spiritual relationships with one another. Members eventually become more active in outreach within and outside their parish.
The core movements of a SCC are:
• looking at the past week
• sharing Lectionary readings and faith-sharing questions
• looking at the rest of the week
SCCs allow us to remain Church on a small scale while our parishes are becoming bigger.
