Each
summer St. Monica Catholic Church sponsors a Youth
Music Camp for area youth offering hands-on experience in
the performing arts of music, dance, and theater. The
Christian curriculum affords each child the opportunity to
successfully participate in choral singing, creative
movement, acting, set design and construction, costuming,
and handbell ringing.
The Youth Music Camp is open to all interested youth in
grades 2nd through 12. A K-1 curriculum will be offered for
the fulltime volunteer camp staffers' children only. A
nursery is provided for the convenience of our volunteer
staffers. Youth in grades 9-12 may opt to enroll as
teachers' aides or play in the stage band for service hour
credit if they prefer to not pursue performance in
the camp production.
The camp operates Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to
Noon; Friday from 8:30 a.m. till 2:00 p.m. (which
includes a dress rehearsal and performance for guests from
local nursing homes ); and Saturday from 4:00 p.m. till
8:00 p.m. (includes rehearsal, evening liturgy, and final
dinner theater performance in the Parish Center
with dinner sponsored by the Knights of Columbus).
Children of registered St. Monica Catholic
parishioners pay a fee that covers the cost of the
camp T-Shirt. We do ask children of non-parishioners for a
donation of $35.00 to help defray expenses .
Camp T-shirts form the basis of our performance attire, and
are a wonderful souvenir of the camp experience!
