Gifting Made Easier
The How and What
How to give is easy. What to give is difficult.
How
to Give
1.
By monthly donation. The
monthly donation for food and necessities is $30.
Additionally, you can give more than $30 via the same
check. If you do give more, please specify the use for the
extra money. If you specify nothing, in my monthly report I
will note that “it is for the needs of the
family.” The parish staff delivers monthly food and
notes what the family needs and gets it for them.
On
your check, please make it out to “St. Monica Peru
Ministry Account” and add your St. Monica number:
SM-MMM/PPP.
2.
By quarterly shipment. Boxes
are shipped to Peru in an ocean-going container. See
the Shipments
page.
3.
Randon donation. Select
items from the
Peruvian parish website., print a form and include it
with a check make
out to “St. Monica Peru Ministry Account” and
add your St. Monica number:
SM-MMM/PPP.
What
to Give
Your family is VERY poor and has very little. They really
need something that will help them live better. Think of
things we take for granted that make life easier. Here is a
list in no particular order.
• vitamins
• flip flops (they generally do not wear shoes)
• sheets
• rope
• tarp
• tools (hammer, pliers, etc.)
• blankets
• pots and pans
• towels
• plastic storage containers
• hot pads/mitts
• five-gallon water jugs
• sissors, nail clippers, combs, etc.
• balls, school supplies
• Spanish Bible, rosaries
• clothes
• sun glasses
• caps
• feminine products
• shampoo, tooth brushes/paste
• canned fruit, can opener
• tuna/salmon packages
• underwear, socks
Give a Gift to Someone Who Has Everything
Gifts can be given anonymously and the parish staff in Peru will select a needy family. If you want a gift to go to your adopted family, you must provide their names and village name. If you want to give a gift in someone's name, then you must say so on the Donation Request List. In other words, ask for exactly what you want to happen.
Deacon Lee and his wife have their children make donations in their names to families instead of getting Lee and Karen birthday and Christmas presents. The photo below shows a goat, rooster, and chicken being delivered, in Deacon Lee's name, by one of his children. The Hunt's adopted family, Amandina and her daughter Mileny, show their their appreciation.
Follow the directions in part 3 above.
